Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China on Wednesday at the Kremlin in Moscow.

“Our trade relations are developing and are developing successfully, and they are growing, including thanks to the efforts of our Chinese friends, and the attention that the governments of both countries pay to trade and economic relations,” Putin said during his meeting with Li Keqiang in the Kremlin.

“First of all, let me convey to you the sincere greetings and good wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping,” Li Keqiang said during his meeting with the Russian president in the Kremlin.

The Chinese Premier noted that “this is his first official visit to Russia in his new position.”

Today, Wednesday, in the Russian capital, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang held the 29th regular meeting of the Russian-Chinese Joint Government Commission.

According to Russian media, “At the conclusion of the meeting of the heads of the two countries’ governments in Moscow, Russia and China signed a bilateral investment cooperation plan. A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Russian and Chinese ministries of transport on the issue of enhancing the use of automated vehicles for shipping goods across borders, and cooperation in the field of search and rescue at sea.”

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin described the “Russian-Chinese connection as a powerful stabilizing factor in the conditions of the formation of the new world order.”

“Our comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction are of particular importance in a situation where new features of the world order are taking shape. In these circumstances, Russian-Chinese communication acts as a powerful stabilizing factor, contributing to the growth of our countries’ economies and improving the lives of our citizens,” Mishustin said during his meeting with the Chinese Premier.

“Through joint efforts, we together ensure the diversification of trade and economic investment cooperation and the expansion of the use of our national currencies. Today, the share of the ruble and the yuan in mutual settlements already exceeds 95 percent,” he continued.

The Russian Prime Minister pointed out that “Russian-Chinese relations are based on a solid foundation of good neighborliness, equality and mutual respect for each other’s interests,” expressing “his confidence that the upcoming meeting of the heads of government of the two countries will be held in a traditionally warm and quasi-business atmosphere.”

“By combining Russia’s rich scientific potential and China’s production-technological capabilities, I am confident that we can achieve great success,” Mishustin noted.

The Russian prime minister explained that “Moscow and Beijing intend to expand “exchanges in knowledge-intensive areas such as space, comprehensive technologies and artificial intelligence.”

“We are in difficult external conditions. Western countries are using illegal sanctions under false pretexts, simply unfair competition methods. They are trying to maintain their global hegemony, to contain the economic and technological potential of Russia and China. But, as our Chinese friends say, those who follow the path of justice find many helpers. Therefore, it is important to focus our efforts on protecting our common interests, building a multipolar world order, and increasing coordination on international platforms,” he continued.

For his part, the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Li Keqiang, stated that relations between Russia and China have withstood international turmoil.

“The China-Russia friendship has withstood international turmoil and has a long history,” Li said during talks with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, adding: “We can say that our friendship is strong, solid and unshakable. It is our common precious asset.”

Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang has arrived in Moscow, where he will participate in the 29th regular meeting of the prime ministers of China and Russia.
