The federal government is actively working to rescue Indians stranded in Russia-occupied Ukraine. Authorities are taking steps to rescue Indians in Ukraine via neighboring countries as Ukraine closes its air borders due to the war.
To this end, the Indian Embassy has set up assistance centers to rescue Indians coming to the borders of neighboring countries, Romania, Poland and Hungary. It was decided to send 2 Air India planes to Romania to rescue Indians coming from Ukraine.
The 219 Indians, who arrived by road at the Ukraine-Romania border, were brought by authorities to the city of Bucharest in Romania. An Air India flight took off from Mumbai airport at 3:40 am today to pick them up in Bucharest, Romania. The plane landed in Bucharest around 10am.
Following this, an Air India flight with 219 Indians brought by road from Ukraine departed for Mumbai. The Air India flight with 219 Indians from Bucharest, the Romanian capital, was scheduled to arrive in Mumbai at 9 pm tonight.
Union Minister Pius Goyal welcomed the 219 people who arrived in the country. Meanwhile, the flight with the Indians from Hungary will arrive in Delhi at 2 am. Five people from Tamil Nadu are arriving on the second flight to Delhi. Rescue operations are underway to rescue the remaining Indians stranded in Ukraine.
The Romanian border is 600 km from the Ukrainian capital Kiev. Is far away. It takes 11 hours to get there. Then it takes 9 hours to travel from that border to the capital Bucharest. It is also worth noting that it takes 13 hours to reach the Hungarian border from Kiev.
