Russia has delivered the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun battalion to Belarus by rail, the Defense Ministry said. After unloading, the personnel will march on standard equipment and take up combat training duty as part of the Allied Resolve-2022 exercises.

“The units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation involved in checking the response forces of the Union State continue to redeploy to the Republic of Belarus,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement (quoted by Interfax).

“Pantsir-S” is designed for short-range cover of civilian and military facilities from air attack weapons. The complex is able to protect objects from ground and surface threats.

The joint exercises of Russia and Belarus “Allied Resolve-2022” will be held in Belarus from February 10 to 20. The events will take place against the backdrop of Western accusations against Russia of preparing a military invasion of Ukraine.
