Ukraine Russia war latest developments: Russian military forces destroy a new laboratory at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, among others improving radioactive waste management, the Ukrainian state agency responsible for the Chernobyl region said on Tuesday.
Military action goes as planned – Russia
Russia’s Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has denied that Russia’s invasion was halted.
When asked by CNN what Russian President Vladimir Putin has achieved in Ukraine, he said, “Well, he has not.” But he insisted that the military operation was carried out “strictly in accordance with pre-established plans and objectives.”
Russia’s G20 membership recognition question?
Sources involved in the debate told Reuters on Tuesday that the United States and its Western allies were evaluating whether Russia should remain in the Group of Twenty Large Economic Countries (G20) following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Sources said some countries have decided to skip the G20 summits this year as there is a possibility that any attempt by Russia, including China, India, Saudi Arabia and others, to exclude Russia altogether could be made.
Meanwhile, the Russian ambassador to Indonesia has said that Putin plans to attend the G20 summit. He made the remarks following calls from some members of the group to block Russia
“Not only the G20, but many organizations are trying to oust Russia. The reaction of the West is completely unequal,” Russian Ambassador Lyudmila Voropiova told a news conference on Wednesday.
UN Security Council calls on Ukraine to suspend uranium enrichment
The United Nations faces three resolutions on Wednesday on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine. Russia has decided to call for a referendum on the Security Council resolution not to mention the attack on Ukraine.
The General Assembly is scheduled to consider two competing resolutions on Wednesday morning. One is supported by Ukraine and the West, making it clear that Russia is responsible for the growing humanitarian crisis, and the other is sponsored by South Africa, which does not mention Russia.
Poland idea could lead to conflict with NATO – Russia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that sending peacekeepers to Ukraine could lead to a direct confrontation between Russia and the NATO military alliance.

Ukraine reports that Russia has agreed to 9 humanitarian routes
Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vareshchuk said on Wednesday that an agreement had been reached on Wednesday to evacuate civilians trapped in Ukrainian cities and towns through nine “humanitarian routes.”
He said no agreement had been reached with Russia to set up a safe corridor from the center of Mariupol, adding that people wishing to leave the besieged port city would have access to nearby Berdyansk.
Ukraine accuses Russia of seizing relief workers in Mariupol
Ukraine has accused Russia of capturing 15 rescue workers and drivers trying to take them to the bloody port city of Mariupol from a humanitarian convoy.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zhelensky has estimated that 100,000 civilians are staying in Mariupol, the site of some of the worst disasters of the war.
“They have been bombing us for the last 20 days,” said Victoria Dotson, 39, a fugitive from Poland. “In the last five days, planes have been flying over us every five seconds, dropping bombs everywhere – residential buildings, kindergartens, art schools, everywhere.”
Selensky, speaking in his nightly video speech in his home country on Tuesday, accused Russian forces of blocking the aid contingent. Outside Mariupol, near Manhush, he said emergency personnel and drivers were taken into custody and authorities were trying to free them.
