Russia has declared the “Pussy Riot” member Tolokonnikova wanted

by time news

Web media “Mediazona” reports that Tolokonnikova is included in the database of wanted persons of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The AP news agency also reports on the inclusion of the “Pussy Riot” member in this database, which states that Tolokonnikova has been charged with criminal charges, but does not say what exactly.

“Pussy Riot” came to the media attention in 2012, when several members of the group, including Tolokonnikova, were detained for organizing a protest action dedicated to the Kremlin in Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Redeemer.

Tolokonnikova spent almost two years in prison for this performance.

Human rights defender Pavel Chikov announced that a criminal case has been initiated against Tolokonnikov for offending the feelings of believers, which was established as a criminal offense in Russia after the 2012 “Pussy Riot” protest.

Tolokonnikova left Russia and is now believed to be living in the United States.

In 2021, the Russian government recognized Tolokonnikov as a “foreign agent”, which provides for increased control by the authorities.

The Foreign Agents Law in Russia was passed in 2012 and later expanded, and Russia has used it extensively to suppress opponents, journalists and human rights activists.
