Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that “Russia is a strategic ally and an important neighbor of Iran,” adding: “My administration will remain committed to expanding and strengthening our cooperation.”

“I will continue to prioritize bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Russia, especially within frameworks such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union,” the Iranian president said in an article for the Tehran Times.

“China and Russia have stood by us in times of challenges and we greatly respect our friendship with them. Our long-term strategic agreement with China is a roadmap for the future of relations between the two countries and a turning point towards a mutually beneficial partnership,” he added.

The Iranian president continued: “My administration, recognizing that the global landscape has evolved beyond traditional dynamics, is committed to strengthening mutually beneficial relations with emerging international players in the global south, especially with African countries, and we will strive to enhance our cooperative efforts and strengthen our partnerships for the mutual benefit of all parties concerned.”

The Iranian president added: “The United States of America must realize and understand the reality once and for all, which is that Iran does not and will not respond to pressure.”

In his article, titled “My Message to the New World,” Pezeshkian stressed that “Iran does not seek to possess nuclear weapons,” and pledged to “promote a pragmatic foreign policy, ease tensions over now-stalled negotiations with major powers to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, and improve prospects for social liberalization and political pluralism.”
