Russia continues to lose services due to invasion of Ukraine. Monotype, owner of the typefaces Times New RomanVerdana, Arial, Helvetica and Tahoma, has announced that it will stop offering its services to Russian companies, according to the agency of the country governed by Putin, TASS.

“I am sorry to say that considering the current circumstances of sanctions and international relations with Russia, we are currently unable to maintain any business relationship with Russian companies or their subsidiaries. We will continue to monitor the situation and update our policy accordingly,” Monotype said in a statement shared with TASS.

The company, based in the United States, has a portfolio of more than 10,000 different font types. “We stand behind the text you read in newspapers and books, in the apps on your phone, in the websites you browse, in the dashboard you scan, in the products you buy and in the games you play.

We bring the words of the world to the page and the screen, ”explains the company on its website.

According to ‘The Moscow Times’, Russian companies no longer have access to fonts owned by Monotype, although, as in so many other cases, they are being able to get around the ban by employing VPN private networks. Precisely the same tool that allows users in the country to bypass the ban on the use of social networks such as Facebook o Instagramservices that have been blocked by the Kremlin since last March.
