/ Representatives of the Russian State Duma announced on Tuesday the preparation of a draft law stipulating a complete ban on the sale of electronic cigarettes in Russia.

The Russian newspaper “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” said that the head of the Labor and Social Policy Committee, Yaroslav Nilov, who initiated the adoption of this law, indicated that he had collected signatures in support of his initiative, and added that he and his colleagues and experts were now conducting consultations regarding the legal document.

The authors of the bill provided official information that the number of teenagers smoking e-cigarettes in Russia at the beginning of 2023 increased 10 times compared to 2011.

The newspaper pointed out that doctors warn of a disease resulting from smoking e-cigarettes specifically, which is lung damage associated with e-smoking, which is similar to pneumonia in its symptoms and manifestations, and that those who smoke e-cigarettes also develop nicotine addiction.
