A TV host from Russia, a friend of dictator Vladimir Putin, threatened that Russia would launch an “immediate nuclear attack” on any country that tried to stop Putin. The threat comes after the International Court of Justice in The Hague issued an arrest warrant against Putin.
A presenter on the channel, Vladimir Solovyov, sounded the warning during a broadcast on his program on the state-owned channel ‘Russia 1’, saying in a threatening tone, “Any attempt to implement the order is a declaration of war.”
The host began his threats by referring to the statement made by Germany’s Minister of Justice, Marco Buschmann, about the court’s order, when he said: “Germany will be obliged to arrest Putin if he enters German territory and hand him over to the regional court.”
Solovyov shouted in response to Bushman’s statement: “This could lead to an immediate nuclear attack on that country! Immediate! I mean, any attempt to go against the will of the Russian people, which has made itself very clear, must result in a missile strike.”
His words were said after the International Court of Justice in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin due to the “illegal deportation” of Ukrainian children. Putin is one of only three heads of state for whom arrest warrants have been issued, joining the dubious list of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and former Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir. Gaddafi was removed from power and killed a few months after the order was announced, while Bashir was also removed and is currently in prison in Sudan, although he has not yet been transferred to The Hague.
