“Russia’s concerns or the problems facing Russia have not yet been resolved,” a Turkish diplomat said on condition of anonymity, according to Reuters and the Tagesschau.de website. The Ankara administration continues its efforts to obtain Moscow’s agreement to extend the grain export initiative on the Black Sea.

Russia has objected to the extension of the Grains Agreement, which will expire on March 18 if it is not extended. Moscow insists on facilitating Russian grain and fertilizer exports. The current agreement allows this, but Russia is unhappy about some practical aspects.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, highlighted on Wednesday, in Kiev, the need to extend the Agreement on grain exports on the Black Sea. “We agreed today that the extension of the Black Sea grain export initiative after March 18 is essential for the whole world. We are interested in ensuring that there is no hunger in the world, and our common policy is to extend the grain corridor initiative,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I want to emphasize the essential importance of the extension after March 18 of the Black Sea grain export initiative and the activities of creating the conditions to allow the maximum use of the Black Sea export infrastructures,” he said , for his part, the Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres.
