Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after the completion of negotiations with his British counterpart Liz Truss that Vladimir Zelensky is used by the West “as a tool to bring Russia out of balance” and his own opinion is not taken into account. The minister said that Russia was already thinking, “maybe the Anglo-Saxons are preparing something, since they are taking embassy employees out of Ukraine.” Because of this, the Russian Federation may recommend that non-essential personnel of the diplomatic mission in Ukraine leave the country for a while.
“We also looked at their actions and, probably, we will also advise non-essential personnel of our diplomatic institutions to go home for a while,” Mr. Lavrov said.
On February 10, near the border with Ukraine, the Russian-Belarusian exercises “Allied Resolve-2022” started. Against the background of the crisis over Ukraine, the United States and its allies see the upcoming exercises as a demonstration of Russia’s aggressive intentions and a direct threat of an invasion of Ukraine from the north.
