The commander of one of the crews of the Russian S-300 air defense system announced the downing of 3 Kiev warplanes, with the participation of the Buk-M2 air defense system, on the Zaporozhye direction.
The crew commander also revealed that the system responded to a Ukrainian bombardment with American Hemars missiles, and that the planes that it shot down all took off from Ukrainian airports and were carrying missiles.
He added that the Buk anti-aircraft system was able to detect targets and were shot down by air defense missiles from the S-300 system.
He explained that the air defense units are working in the special military operation area to secure coverage for the forces, command centers and headquarters from enemy attacks that are trying to launch air strikes on them, noting that there are residential areas where civilians are present.
“We provide cover for our units, safe cities and towns, as well as for our positions, so that nothing from the enemy’s side can reach them,” said First Lieutenant Dmitry Veselov, deputy commander of the anti-aircraft missile unit.
