The adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Mykhailo Podolyak, said that Russia should be forced to participate in a summit on Ukraine, as it will not do so of its own free will, Reuters reported.
Podoliak told Ukrainian national television that one of the methods of coercion is battlefield action, referring to the unprecedented Ukrainian cross-border operation in Russia’s Kursk region.
“Ordinary appeals to Russia do not yield results, only a set of means of coercion work,” said Podolyak, quoted by BTA.
Earlier today, Zelensky said that Ukraine controls 74 settlements on Russian territory since the start of the offensive, which has forced tens of thousands of civilians to flee.
“Despite difficult and intense fighting, the progress of our forces in the Kursk region continues. There are 74 settlements under the control of Ukraine,” Zelensky said in Telegram.
According to Russian intelligence, Volodymyr Zelensky is taking “crazy” steps that risk escalation far beyond Ukraine. The White House considers former Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov a suitable successor to Zelensky.
Zelensky added that Ukrainian forces have advanced 1-3 kilometers in the last 24 hours.
