This was announced on Monday, October 18, at a press conference in Moscow by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

As the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, as a response step, Russia is suspending the activities of the military communications mission in Moscow, the accreditation of its employees is withdrawn from November 1 of this year. In addition, the NATO information office in Moscow, established at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, is terminated.

“If NATO has any urgent matters, they can turn to our ambassador in Belgium on these issues. The ambassador, who ensures bilateral relations,” Lavrov said. He recalled that the North Atlantic Alliance intends to reduce from November 1 the total number of members of the Russian mission to NATO to ten people, including administrative and technical personnel, as a result of which the Russian mission will be almost halved.

According to Lavrov, during a meeting with Jens Stoltenberg in New York a few days before, the NATO Secretary General emphasized the sincere interest of the North Atlantic Alliance in normalizing relations with Russia in the interests of de-escalating tensions on the European continent.
