Russia tightens security in border areas after Ukrainian attacks

Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said today that Russian military commanders have prepared a series of measures to strengthen the security of the Russian regions bordering Ukraine, Reuters reported.

“The Minister of Defense of Russia, Andrey Belousov, held another meeting on the issues of ensuring the security of the population and infrastructure facilities in the border territories of the country in the Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions. During today’s meeting, additional measures were discussed to ensure the integrity and the inviolability of the country’s territory, and also to protect the population and infrastructure of the Belgorod region from attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, as quoted by TASS.

“It is primarily about increasing the efficiency of the troop management system in interaction with other law enforcement agencies and the administration of the Belgorod region, for determining the responsible officials, as well as for the allocation of additional forces and funds that will be redirected to the implementation of the main tasks,” said Belousov, quoted by the Ministry of Defense, BTA reports.

“Andrei Belousov noted that he will personally supervise the implementation of the presented plan (of the General Staff for additional measures to ensure the territorial integrity of the Belgorod region – note TASS). The meeting was attended by the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov, the deputy ministers of of the Russian Defense Andrei Buliga and Aleksey Krivoruchko, as well as representatives of the office of the Russian President,” the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.
