British Prime Minister Keir Starmer participated today in an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council, convened and chaired by Slovenia. He stated that Russia is treating its own citizens in Ukraine like pieces of meat being thrown into the meat grinder.

“Russia is behind the biggest violation of the UN Charter in a generation,” the British Prime Minister said and called on President Vladimir Putin to end the conflict.

“I wonder how Russia can show its face in this building,” he added.

Starmer said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was illegal and threatened global security.

“Over 35,000 civilians were killed or wounded, six million were forced to flee, and almost 20,000 Ukrainian children were forcibly deported. Abducted, to put it bluntly,” he stressed, quoted by BTA.

“Russia has started this illegal war. It needs to end it and get out of Ukraine,” Starmer said.

In his words, the territorial integrity of Ukraine “must be the basis of any just and lasting peace”.
