Local Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said Tuesday morning that Ukraine had attacked the village of Golovchino in Russia’s Belgorod province and that several buildings had been damaged.
Russia – Ukraine war news: The British Interior Ministry says that the Ukrainian city of Kremlin has been captured by the Russian army. The British Interior Ministry tweeted that Kremlin had fallen to Russian forces after heavy fighting, but Ukraine had not yet responded. Russia has claimed responsibility for the capture of Kremlin, 575 km from Kiev.
Russia continues to invade eastern Ukraine. The AP reported on Monday that Russia had attacked a train station and oil depot located deep inside Ukraine.
Germany to supply deadly weapons to Ukraine
Germany has announced that it will supply Ukraine with its first lethal weapons to counter Russian aggression. There was confusion over Germany’s position on the occupation. German Defense Minister Kristin Lambrecht said on Monday the government had approved the supply of Jeopardy anti-aircraft tanks from KMW’s stock.
Russia says peace talks will not take place in Mariupol
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has rejected a proposal by Ukraine to hold peace talks with Mariupol. He said it was not time to talk about who would mediate the talks. Speaking after a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Moscow, Lavrov said Russia was committed to a diplomatic solution through talks with Ukraine.
Turkey recommends high-level talks
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has demanded that Russian President Vladimir Putin agree to hold direct talks with the Ukrainian president. The call comes in the wake of Turkey’s diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis following Russia’s military action in Ukraine, including the hosting of Ukraine – Russia talks in Istanbul late last month.
Attack on the village of Golovchino
Local Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said Tuesday morning that Ukraine had attacked the village of Golovichino in Russia’s Belgorod province and damaged several buildings. But no evidence of assault has been provided.
Gladkov said hours earlier, two people had been injured in an attack in another village, Shuravlyovka. It is not clear whether both attacks were missile strikes or shelling.
Attack on an oil refinery in Ukraine
The Russian Defense Ministry also reported that a missile had struck the Ukrainian oil refinery in Kremenchuk and attacked Ukrainian military bases. “The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are conducting a special military operation in Ukraine,” Reuters quoted the ministry as saying.
