War correspondents are freelancers without protection
“Every day newspapers, sites, radios and news on the Ukrainian Russian front line use the work of dozens of freelancers”. L’Roman press association invites publishers to take proper responsibility for the journalists they collaborate with from war zones.
“They are colleagues and colleagues who challenge difficulties and obstacles of all kinds to give the correct information to our country even more precious when every day the theater of conflict is flooded with propaganda. Yet these precarious colleagues work in most cases without insurance and in most cases without individual protection measures “, the statement continues.
“If companies recognize professional value by publishing and disseminating their work, we ask the companies themselves to hire these colleagues. Maybe full-time hiring but real hiring in which the protections become full and the professional risk that freelancers are running is compensated by adequate contractual work and social protection “
