Notably, immediately after the war with Ukraine began, Russian forces seized the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Meanwhile, Russia is preparing the ground for annexation of Ukraine’s occupied territories by referendum. Kremlin official Sergei Kiyenko cited a Sunday poll showing 91 percent support for annexing the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, collectively known as Donbass, to Russia.
