The idea is to create a network of balloons in hangars. The hangars open and the balloons rise into the air when needed – stretching a huge net up to 250 meters high. This should become an obstacle for enemy drones.

The idea is a copy of already developed solutions with barrier balloons. However, they did not use nets, but metal cables. Defense Express has previously written about aspects of the use of barrier balloons against cruise missiles, based on the UK’s use of such balloons against the V-1 glide bomb.
First Dirigible has already reported that it has successfully tested the system and is said to have received an order for it. At the same time, the Russian company has a concept in which the Barjer system would be developed using not balloons, but quadcopters, which perform a similar task of lifting and tensioning the net.
It should be noted that Russia has problems trying to protect oil storage facilities or oil refineries from drones. Now the owners have to defend these objects at their own expense. And there have already been unsuccessful attempts to protect the equipment of oil refineries with stretched cables.
Therefore, it can be assumed that this idea of defense against drones using balloons or drones that will strain the nets may be more common in Russia, according to Defense Express.
