Russia: “We have achieved the main objectives of the first phase of the operation in Ukraine”

The Russian Ministry of Defense updated today (Friday) the numbers of casualties suffered by the Russian military since the beginning of the operation in Ukraine. In contrast to previous reports and leaks cited in numbers approaching 10,000 dead, in Russia it is claimed that 1,351 Russian soldiers were killed and 3,825 wounded, the Russian media reported.

The Russian Defense Ministry reportedly stated that “Russia will continue its special military operation until it reaches the targets set by Putin.” This is after the ministry previously said that the main objectives of the first phase of the “special operation” in Ukraine have been completed.

According to them, Russia controls 93% of the territory of the Lugansk region, and now it will focus on the complete “liberation” of the Donbas region – and does not even rule out the possibility of an attack on besieged Ukrainian cities.

According to the report, the Ministry of Defense noted that Russia has considered two options for the “special operation” in Ukraine – one only within the separatist republics declared in Donbas and the other throughout the territory of Ukraine.
