by time news

The Higher School of Economics won the competition for the development of Russian standards for artificial intelligence (AI), the project budget will be just over 100 million rubles, follows from the documentation published on the public procurement website. The final versions of more than 70 standards covering various areas of AI application are due to be formed by the end of October 2022, but the first editions of some standards should be submitted this fall, according to the competition documents.

“Standardization is a key factor in supporting state socio-economic policy, contributes to the development of fair competition and innovation, reducing technical barriers to trade, increasing the level of safety of life, health and property of citizens”, – justifies the need for the procedure Rosstandart. The department intends to standardize the use of AI in various industries and spheres of life: in communication networks, in video analytics systems, in neural networks, systems for the provision of public services, alcohol control, in archives, in the real estate market, etc., follows from the terms of reference. “Typical requirements for AI technologies and methods for assessing compliance with these requirements should be the same for everyone and enshrined in the appropriate standards,” said Tatyana Usmanova, chief expert of the HSE Research Projects Directorate. “The lack of AI standards prevents the use of these technologies in many important application areas, including, for example, education, where certain guarantees of the quality of intelligent systems are required.”
