Russia will protest over the incident with the aircraft “Aeroflot” – RBK

by time news

The Russian aviation authorities will express a diplomatic protest over the frequent flights of NATO aircraft near the country’s borders, the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency told RBC.

The agency indicated that flights of military aircraft without radio communication threaten the safety of civil aircraft in the Black Sea region.

One of such cases occurred on the morning of Friday, December 3, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported. Then the NATO CL-600 reconnaissance aircraft performed a flight with an intensive descent from an altitude of 11 thousand to an altitude of 9.2 thousand meters, crossing the routes of civil aircraft. The incident took place over the open waters of the Black Sea, “near the area of responsibility of the Russian air traffic services,” the department emphasized. At the same time, the crew did not respond to requests from air traffic services.

At the same time, two civilian aircraft were supposed to fly in this area: the A333 of Aeroflot, which was flying from Tel Aviv to Moscow, and the Maltese CL650, which was flying from Sochi to Skopje (North Macedonia). In connection with what is happening, the routes of the liners had to be changed, the Federal Air Transport Agency said. “Russian air traffic controllers ensured the safe performance of flights in the above area over the open waters of the Black Sea,” the department said.
