Russian anti-aircraft missile forces tracked the movements of three NATO spy planes over the Black Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry said on its website.

According to the ministry, a reconnaissance aircraft RC-135 of the US Air Force and C-160G “Gabriel” of the French Aerospace Forces, which took off from Crete and from Romania, approached the Russian border by 30 km. The P-8A Poseidon aircraft of the US Navy flew up to 70 km from the border, taking off from a base in Sicily.

The Ministry of Defense noted that over the past day, the reconnaissance aircraft of NATO countries have increased the intensity of flights near the borders with Russia. The ministry called the goal of the international exercises in the Black Sea “the development of the alleged theater of military operations and, in particular, the territory of Ukraine in case Kiev prepares a military solution in the southeast.”
