Russian Ambassador announced the deadline for the completion of the construction of “Nord Stream – 2”

The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will be completed in a few weeks, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev said in an interview with Izvestia newspaper.

“We proceed from the premise that the German-American agreement will not affect the pace of construction and completion of the SP-2. Construction work is at its final stage, and there are only a few weeks left until its complete completion, “Nechaev said. He noted that the joint statement of the United States and Germany on Nord Stream 2 is not a legally binding document for the two countries. For Russia, which did not participate in its preparation, even more so.

The joint statement of the United States and Germany partly discusses the operating conditions for Nord Stream 2. In particular, it talks about the need to extend the transit contract between Gazprom and the Ukrainian Naftogaz after 2024 for 10 years. In addition, the United States and Germany in a joint statement promised to create a “green” fund for investment in the Ukrainian economy, in which they intend to attract at least $ 1 billion.

Nord Stream 2 envisages the construction of two gas pipeline strings along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, each with a length of more than 1200 km. They will transport gas to Germany through the sea territories of Russia, Germany, Finland, Sweden and Denmark. On July 11, Nord Stream 2 AG CEO Matthias Warnig said in an interview with the Handelsblatt newspaper that construction work on the second line of the pipeline is 98% complete.
