Several dozen companies and organizations, including Rostelecom, Yandex, Rosatom, Skolkovo, InfoWatch, Sberbank, MTS, VK, Gazprom Neft, RDIF and NRU HSE, signed Russia’s first code of ethics for artificial intelligence (AI), developed taking into account the requirements of the National Strategy for the Development of AI for the period up to 2030. The ceremony was held within the framework of the international forum “Ethics of Artificial Intelligence: The Beginning of Trust”. By the end of 2021, at least 100 companies can join the code.

“In December 2020, the president called on the artificial intelligence community to develop an internal code of ethics. We are witnessing the voluntary participation of companies and organizations in the field of artificial intelligence, which are being added to the unified code, ”said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, who also participated in the ceremony (quoted by RIA Novosti). According to him, the key principles of the Code of Ethics are transparency, truthfulness, and a responsible attitude.

The AI Code of Ethics was developed at the Government Analytical Center, with the Ministry of Economy and the AI Alliance also participating in the discussion. Experts say that one of the main reasons for doing ethical searches is the low level of citizens’ trust in new technologies.
