The priority for Russian forces at the moment is attacks in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine. This was stated by a representative of the Ukrainian military intelligence, quoted by DPA.
“It is here that the fiercest battles are being fought,” Andriy Yusov from GUR told Ukrainian television.
There are battles in almost all directions in the Donbass coal-mining region, he added.
“On all other sections of the front, the enemy is launching attacks and maneuvers solely to divert attention,” Yusov pointed out.
Numerous such attacks of a demonstrative nature are registered, mostly in the areas south of the city of Zaporizhia. In reality, these attacks are more about the regrouping and rebasing of units on the Russian side, Yusov believes.
But these operations are not completely harmless, especially considering that Russia has about 90,000 soldiers in the Zaporozhye region, writes BTA.
According to Ukrainian military experts, forces with such numbers are not enough to achieve a serious breakthrough on the front, but they are definitely enough to maintain the pressure on the Ukrainian army.
