This morning (Thursday) Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Klyova met in Antalya, Turkey. The brief meeting between the two was marked as a meeting with no progress

At the end of the meeting, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Klyova said that “I came here with humanitarian goals and to open the humanitarian corridor.”

However, Kliova said, “We talked about the possibility of a one-day ceasefire but Lavrov did not agree to commit unfortunately.” He added: “We will continue to talk – and we will meet again in this format if there is a chance to move towards peace and security.” He summed up his remarks by saying, “Unfortunately no progress has been made in the talks.”

Shortly after the narrow-mindedness of Minister Kliova, his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov opened and congratulated the Turks and said “Today we met with the Turkish Foreign Minister, and then with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kolba.”

“We talked about trying to end this crisis. The meeting happened because of President Erdogan’s phone call to President Putin,” he added.

During press questions, Lavrov was asked about the possibility of a summit meeting between Ukrainian President Zalansky and Russian President Putin and said that “we are considering Zalanski’s request.”

He later referred to the heavy sanctions imposed on him and said that “their response shows how much Russia is threatened. ‘Uncle Sam’ will never destroy our economy again – we will no longer be dependent on it.”

Regarding the possibility of degenerating into a nuclear war, he said that “I do not want to believe, and I do not believe, that a nuclear war can begin.”

A Sky News reporter asked Lavrov: “Why should Ukrainians take your side seriously given the work you have invaded Ukraine?”

Foreign Minister Lavrov responded: “I want Ukraine to be a friendly country and not become a Nazi state.”

The White House warned tonight (Wednesday to Thursday) of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s next dangerous move against the Ukrainian people, and is beyond the use of chemical or biological weapons against civilians. “We must prepare for such a possibility. Moscow is preparing the ground for this through false allegations against Kyiv,” said White House spokeswoman Jen Saki.

The “false and ridiculous allegations,” according to Saki, are Russia’s claim, which has been heard in recent days that the United States is involved in the development of biological and chemical weapons laboratories in Ukraine. Russia’s deputy ambassador to the UN reiterated these remarks yesterday, urging the Western media to cover the “news on secret biological laboratories in Ukraine”.
