Berlin Russian hackers have launched attacks on the websites of German authorities, making them temporarily inaccessible. According to information from the news magazine “Spiegel”, the attacks were directed against the Ministry of Defence, the Bundestag, the federal police and several state police authorities. Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s SPD website is also said to have been affected.

According to the report, these were so-called DDoS attacks (“Distributed Denial of Service”), in which the attackers wanted to paralyze servers with a flood of requests. The Russian hacker group “Killnet” has confessed to this in the messenger service Telegram. According to “Spiegel”, according to the authorities, these are acts of retaliation for German arms deliveries to Ukraine.

The Federal Information Office for Security in Information Technology did not want to comment further, but announced that attacks of this type were not particularly sophisticated and could be easily repelled with standard technologies.
