Over the past few days, the Russian media have been publishing information that President Sadyr Japarov will take part in the parade on the occasion of Victory Day on May 9 in Moscow.

For example, on April 23, Vedomosti reported that Zhaparov would allegedly be the only foreign leader who would come to Moscow for the parade. At the same time, the publication in its publication refers to its source.

Similar information was published by RIA Novosti, referring to the words of the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov.

“This year, the day before, the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Zhaparov, will take place, and, being here the day before, he decided to stay at the parade and share the pride of Victory Day with us,” Peskov said.

Sadyr Japarov’s press secretary, Erbol Sultanbayev, answered Kloop’s question about when the president is going to Moscow, and answered that journalists were waiting for official information. He did not specify when exactly the president’s trip would become known.

Kyrgyzstan is one of the few countries that maintains friendly relations with Russia despite the fact that the Russian army invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

The country’s officials have already spoken of Kyrgyzstan’s neutrality on the issue of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, in reality, Kyrgyzstan has become one of the countries with the help of which Russia can circumvent Western economic sanctions.

According to the EBRD, Kyrgyzstan earned 36 billion soms on re-export to Russia over the past year.
