Russian Post has temporarily stopped accepting international money transfers to Ukraine, the company’s press service reports.

Unreceived money transfers to the country sent after February 21, 2022, as well as the paid commission, can be returned at the offices of Russian Post, the report says. You must have a check and a passport with you. International transfers to all other countries are accepted as usual.

The day before, the Russian Post suspended the acceptance of shipments to Ukraine after the closure of airports in 11 cities in southern Russia. The company said it is restructuring mail delivery routes and changing air delivery to and from these cities for delivery by land.

On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine. The declared goal of the operation is the “demilitarization and denazification” of the country. In a televised address to the Russians, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics had asked for help. This happened after the escalation of the armed conflict in the Donbass last week: the parties accused each other of shelling, the DPR and LPR also announced attempts of sabotage by Ukraine, which Kiev denied.

Martial law was declared in Ukraine and diplomatic relations with Russia were severed. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted a bill on general mobilization to the Verkhovna Rada and called on Western countries to impose tough sanctions against Moscow. The United States, European Union, Canada, Great Britain and Japan have introduced a number of restrictions against the financial sector and the Russian banking services market, as well as restricting the export of high technologies. The sanctions lists included politicians, including State Duma deputies, as well as representatives of the banking sector.

On Thursday, groups of troops from the Donbass republics, with the support of Russian artillery and army aviation, broke through the layered defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and advanced 6-8 km in depth, the Russian Defense Ministry said. According to the agency, on the first day of the fighting there were two Su-27s, two Su-24s, one helicopter and four Bayraktar TB-2 attack unmanned aerial vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
