The Siberian Battalion, a pro-Ukrainian militia made up of Russian volunteers opposed to Vladimir Putin’s regime, claims to have taken Kozinka, a Russian village located in Belgorod Oblast, together with the Russian Volunteer Corps, another armed group backed by Kyiv. It is the second village they have captured in the last 48 hours.

Telegram channels related to these groups published images in which they appeared raising their flags. «Flags of the Siberian battalion and the RDK [las siglas del Cuerpo de Voluntarios Rusos] in the town of Kozinka of the Russian Federation,” the message underlines.

On Sunday, Russian volunteers announced the capture of the village of Gorkovskii, just over 25 kilometers away from Kozinka, also in the Belgorod region. Russian authorities urged civilians to evacuate the areas.

In addition to the Siberian Battalion and the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Russian Freedom Legion participates in the operations. The three Russian volunteer corps entered Russian territory last week as part of Ukraine’s war efforts to move hostilities beyond its borders.

The objective, according to experts, is not to conquer territories, but to embarrass and delegitimize Putin. It is no coincidence that the latest penetrations have occurred within the framework of the Russian presidential elections in which Putin has certified his fifth re-election for another six-year term.
