During the international conference held in Moscow, timed to coincide with the World Food Safety Day, the scientific director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Federal Research Center for Nutrition and Biotechnology”, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor Tutelyan said that today the institute’s scientists are actively studying new food sources. In particular, the subject of research by scientists is various living organisms extracted from the depths of the sea. True, so far there is no data on how safe they are for consumption in writing. Such non-traditional food sources, insects, which are a source of easily digestible protein, are also being studied. “This does not mean that we will eat them right now. But we must be prepared for this, so today it is necessary to study their Security. Even today they are used in the country in feed for farm animals, and today we are planning to study the tissues of animals fed with insects in order to understand how safe such products are.”
