New recruits shoot each other so they can be medically evacuated instead of fighting the Ukrainians. The Russian conscripts surrendered near the city of Kherson and told their captors that their comrades had shot them to ensure they would be sent home. Others claimed that many soldiers committed suicide, while more than 200 surrendered to Zelenskiy’s forces, begging for food and water and noting that they had not eaten for more than a week.
A Ukrainian commander revealed on social media that Russian conscripts injured their comrades in order not to fight. He said “These guys don’t want to be here, many shot each other to make sure they were sent home for treatment, but many stayed and are now in our custody, for them it’s a mess, but it’s their mess, our president has repeatedly told them to surrender or go home , they can’t win.”

Thousands of conscripts who were called are middle-aged and discovered during the recruitment that they had to dig trenches with bayonets, they were given blankets instead of sleeping bags and they were not given enough food. Others spoke of being given weapons, but given no practical training before boarding the buses and being taken directly to the front.
Angus Crowley, a former intelligence officer of the British Army, said that the Russian commanders have increased their forces and now cannot provide for their needs.
