Russian strikes in Ukraine: a show of force that looks like an admission of weakness

Ukraine woke up to a rain of missiles. Russia carried out a deluge of strikes on Monday of an unprecedented scale for months, on many cities in Ukraine, including the capital kyiv. The latest report shows about ten dead and about sixty wounded. These attacks, which therefore affected civilians, took place shortly before Vladimir Putin summoned his main ministers and representatives of the army services during a security council. A “massive” bombing campaign targeted “Ukraine’s energy, military and communications infrastructure”, he acknowledged in the meeting.
