Men are slightly more likely to describe themselves as financially independent (64% of survey participants said this) than women (61%). Most of the people who consider themselves self-sufficient live in Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk and Vladivostok (74% of the respondents each). Also, most often, this is how the 40-50-year-olds assess their well-being (73% in this age group).

Among the main criteria for financial independence, respondents named a decent salary (82%) and the presence of savings (33%). Residents of Moscow (104.4 thousand rubles), St. Petersburg (98.5 thousand rubles) and Vladivostok (92.7 thousand rubles) want the highest salary required for financial independence. The estimate of the required amount of savings is also the highest among Muscovites (6.39 million rubles), as well as residents of Kemerovo (4.2 million rubles) and St. Petersburg (4.12 million rubles). On average in the country, this amount was estimated at 3.4 million rubles.

The respondents aged 18 to 30 more often named their own business (50%) and income from renting out real estate (42%) as a way of earning income for financial independence. The respondents aged 30–40 spoke about savings (43%), the respondents aged 50–60 – about high salaries (89%).

On average, a Russian becomes financially independent at the age of 26, according to the respondents. At the same time, the respondents themselves stated that they would like to become financially free earlier – at 24.4 years.
