Russians warned about surveillance through mobile applications

by time news

Mobile apps and services often collect detailed user data. Anna Mikhailova, Business Development Manager at Angara Group of Companies, told Prime about this.

Among the “spyware” may be those that add advertising trackers from search engines and, for example, the social network Facebook. Some use this to further sell information.

For example, according to some studies, the popular applications Coub, LitRes and Uber became the leaders in the number of installed trackers.

The trackers themselves are not dangerous – the data they transmit is anonymized.

But the transmission of GPS data, MAC address and device data may already be followed to spy on the owner.

“Stalker” software is especially dangerous. These programs can discreetly take screenshots, monitor smartphone activity, and more.

Stalker software includes: Nidb, iSpyoo, Spyfone, TheTruthSpy, Copy9, KidsGuard and pcTattleTale.

Russia has taken the lead among other leading countries in the installation of spyware. Antiviruses can help detect such programs on the gadget.
