Actor Ryan O’Neal died of congestive heart failure, according to his death certificate obtained by The Blast. The certificate, issued by Los Angeles County, listed cardiomyopathy as the underlying cause of his death, with no other causes listed.

O’Neal, known for his Oscar-nominated role in the 1970 film “Love Story,” had been in ill health for some time. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012 and chronic leukemia in 2001. He passed away on December 8 at the age of 82.

In addition to “Love Story,” O’Neal also starred in two movies with Barbra Streisand, “What’s Up Doc?” and “The Main Event,” and in the comedy “Paper Moon” alongside his daughter, Tatum O’Neal. He also had a recurring role in the Fox crime drama “Bones.”

The actor is buried at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park near UCLA. O’Neal’s passing marks the end of a long and successful career in the entertainment industry.
