Singapore: Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar said in Singapore that India and Russia have always taken care of each other’s interests more than usual. There have always been positive relations between the two countries. The Foreign Minister of India said this in response to a question on improving relations between India and Russia. Jaishankar said that based on my perspective and experiences, I say that Russia is a country with which we have always had positive relations. Moscow and New Delhi must have confidence to move their relations forward.
According to the report of RT.com, Jaishankar was asked whether India is reducing the impact of sanctions by continuing the deal with Russia through oil purchases. On this, Jaishankar raised questions on the policies of the West and said that they manage politics keeping in mind the consequences for their people. Jaishankar said that our relations with Russia have been stable and always very friendly. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference in February this year, he had said that New Delhi should be commended for its ability to balance its relations with Moscow and the West. According to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Russia also remains India’s largest arms supplier.
Attack in Russia also condemned
Earlier on Sunday, Jaishankar spoke to his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Moscow in which at least 137 people lost their lives. During the phone call with the Russian Foreign Minister, Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s resolve to continue fighting terrorism in all its forms with Russia. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also condemned the terrorist attack at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall.

India has repeatedly stressed its resolve to maintain strong ties with Moscow despite objections from the West, including criticism over India’s purchases of Russian oil. Jaishankar described oil purchases from Russia as pragmatic and claimed that they help stabilize the world’s energy economy. Regarding sanctions on Russia, Jaishankar had said that many parts of the world do not accept them.
