Saarbrucken – The ink under the lease is dry: the Aachener fashion retail chain is taking over the Kaufhof branch on Bahnhofstrasse!

The company confirmed this when asked by BILD. After Coburg, Cottbus, Frankfurt/Zeil, Leverkusen and Franken-Center Nuremberg, Saarbrücken will be the sixth location that Aachener will take over on July 1st. As early as January, before the end of the Kaufhof branch was even sealed, there had been speculation about a takeover.

There is also good news for the approximately 80 remaining employees: “Aachener will also make all employees of the Saarbrücken branch of Galeria a job offer in Saarbrücken, if they wish,” the company announced.

The head of Aachener is no stranger: Friedrich-Wilhelm Göbel (60) was the managing director of the fashion house Sinn until 2021. There he reportedly got into a fight with his ex-wife and set up his new business. He would now like to take over up to 25 Kaufhof branches nationwide.

In its stores, Aachener offers women’s and men’s fashion and underwear in the upper and higher price segment. There is also branded fashion for children, shoes, accessories and stationery and toys.

As Aachener further announced, it is to be closed from July until the new opening in September in order to convert and redecorate.
