In a quarter-final match held on Tuesday night, the 26-year-old Belarusian defeated Zheng, the Olympic champion in Paris and runner-up at the Australian Open, in just two sets.

Sabalenka triumphed over the 21-year-old Chinese player, currently ranked seventh in the world, with scores of 6–1 and 6–2, in a match played at the Arthur Ashe Stadium that lasted one hour and 13 minutes.

The Belarusian has now beaten Zheng for the third consecutive time, following encounters at the 2023 US Open and in the final of the Australian Open earlier this season.

In the semi-finals, the Belarusian will face the American Emma Navarro, a 23-year-old currently ranked 12th in the world.

The US Open is taking place until Sunday in Flushing Meadows, New York.
