The Belarusian dominated the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (6-4, 6-4) to afford a first semi-final at Roland-Garros.
Sabalenka will be there. The world number 2 did not shake in the quarter-final against the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (6-4, 6-4) and joined Karolina Muchova (43rd in the world) for the first semi-final in the women’s draw. The Czech defeated Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova earlier in the day in straight sets (7-5, 6-2).
On her way to winning everything, the winner of the last Australian Open will try to go all the way, by reaching the last four Porte d’Auteuil for the first time in her career after having done better than a third round ( 2020, 2021, 2022). She will also play her fifth semi-final in a grand slam, after having lost no set since the start of the tournament.
For her part, Elina Svitolina stops in the quarterfinals at the end of an honorable and unexpected career, after having taken a break for several months, due to pregnancy. As expected, Gaël Monfils’ companion refused to go and shake hands with Sabalenka, who was still waiting for her at the net.
