Sabha Medical Center announced the death of two people as a result of the heavy rains that fell on the city, explaining that one of them was electrocuted as a result of touching exposed wires.
The center added that they recorded 33 minor injuries and one serious injury, noting that the rains caused the collapse of several houses and damaged a number of others.
As a result of the damage to some homes due to the rainfall, the Sabha Municipal Council requested all those affected and the teams working to respond and evacuate those trapped, to head to Al-Wahda School in Al-Jadeed neighborhood, which the council had designated as a place to shelter the affected families until the rainfall ends.
The council also called on the municipality’s residents not to leave their homes unless necessary, to avoid the risks associated with heavy rains and winds.
The Council recommended avoiding areas exposed to flooding and avoiding driving at all except when necessary, and avoiding approaching electrical poles or exposed wires, as water could reach the electricity.
The Council called for securing outdoor objects that could be swept away by wind or rain, and preparing an emergency bag containing essential supplies such as water, food and first aid in case of need for evacuation.
The Council stressed the need to communicate with the relevant authorities in the event of any emergency, and to follow the instructions of the emergency teams and cooperate with them to ensure everyone’s safety, calling on all paramedics to head to the Sabha Medical Center to provide treatment for emergency cases.
