Eteo Studio Launches, Led by ‘Sable‘ Creative Director, with New Design Newsletter

A new autonomous game studio, Eteo, has been founded by Gregorios Kythreotis, the creative director behind the critically acclaimed sci-fi hoverbike adventure Sable. The studio aims to release its first title in 2027 and will begin publishing a monthly newsletter, Archetypes, focused on game design starting in January 2026.

A New Chapter Following ‘Sable’

Kythreotis, who previously led Shedworks – the studio responsible for Sable – described Eteo as a natural progression of his creative journey. “We started [Sable studio] Shedworks about a week after I graduated from studying architecture,” he recalled in a studio announcement.”We’ve just basically been teaching ourselves on the job for a decade now. Sable was our first really big game, it changed my life entirely. Eteo is sort of the next step with that.”

The studio’s focus will be on “making vibrant game worlds with a distinctly mischievous flavour,” building upon the world-building and storytelling strengths demonstrated in Sable. Kythreotis intends to apply lessons learned from his architectural studies, his time at Shedworks, and the success of Sable to new, personal projects.

Funding and the ‘Archetypes’ Newsletter

Eteo has secured funding from Outersloth, the indie game fund established by the developers of Among Us, Innersloth. This financial backing will support the development of the studio’s debut game, which remains unnamed.

In the interim, Eteo will engage with the game development community through archetypes, a free monthly newsletter launching in January 2026. The newsletter will feature contributions from multiple writers, each examining often-overlooked aspects of video game design. For the first six months, Archetypes will showcase three writers each month, exploring themes aligned with Eteo’s design philosophies.
