‘Sabotage’ explosion targets gas pipeline in southwest Iran

/ Iranian official media reported that a sabotage explosion occurred at dawn on Wednesday in a main gas pipeline in the city of “Brojan” in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province in southwestern Iran.

The official IRNA news agency quoted the director of the strategic center of the gas network, Saeed Aqli, as saying: The sabotage explosion that occurred in the high-pressure gas pipeline of Brojan-Shahr-e Kord in the southwestern province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari did not result in any casualties.

He confirmed that there were no casualties in the explosion and said: Currently, there is no problem in supplying cities and villages with gas, and the problems that arose in several villages near the site of the accident will be solved soon.

Borujjan Governor Fattah Karami announced that gas has been delivered to residential homes in Borujjan and Kandaman, which were cut off due to the explosion of the gas pipeline.

In an interview with IRNA correspondent, Fattah Karami referred to the fire in the gas pipeline in Brojen, adding: “This incident occurred in a main gas transmission line in the Brojen-Kandaman axis.

He announced the dispatch of rescue and firefighting teams as soon as possible and said: “Fortunately, there were no injuries in this accident and the cause of the damage is being investigated.”

He pointed out that the communication axis between Borujan, Lordegan and Khuzestan in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, which was closed due to the explosion, was reopened. He said: After controlling the fire and securing the road, it was reopened due to the difficulty of traffic.

On Wednesday morning, an explosion was heard in Borujen, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, causing panic among people.
