Elections for the South Indian Film Writers Association are currently underway in Chennai.
South Indian Film Writers Association elections are held every two years. Accordingly, elections are being held as the term of office of the current members ends. This time also the director K. Bhagyaraj, who is currently the president, is again contesting as the president. Film director S.A. Chandrasekaran is contesting from the opposite side. The election will be held from 8 am to 4 pm at the Screen Music Artists Association, Vadapalani.
Bhagyaraj contests for the post of leader in Bhagyaraj team. G Kannan and Karaikudi Narayanan are contesting as Vice President. Liaqat Alikhan is contesting for the post of secretary and Balasekaran for the post of treasurer. Mangai Arirajan, Chinni Jayant, Kavinjar Muthulingam and Ratnakumar are contesting for the post of joint secretaries. Babukanesh, Ajayan Bala, Balaji Sakthivel, Hema Malini, Jayaprakash, Pattukottai Prabhakar, Raja, Raja Karthik, Rajeshwar, Shekhar, Velmurugan, Pa. Vijay are contesting as executive committee members.
SA Chandrasekhar is contesting for the post of president in the Vasantham writers team led by director SA Chandrasekhar. Manophala and Ravi Maria are contesting for vice president. Manoj Kumar is contesting for the post of secretary and Ramesh Khanna for the post of treasurer. Madurai Thangam, Prabhakar, Ranganathan and Shanmugasundaram are contesting for the post of joint secretaries. Eureka, Prameradu, Ponram, Radharavi, Sairamani, Santhakumar, Charan, Saravanan Subbiah, Snegan, Singambuli, A, Venkatesh and Viveka are contesting as executive committee members.
Out of a total of 570 members, more than 490 are eligible to vote. Currently, elections are being held for 21 posts including President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. As of noon, 250 votes have been cast. It is said that the results of this polling, which will be completed at 4 pm, will be released after 5 pm.
