Brad William Henke, a former NFL player and who in recent years is best known for his role in Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” died on Tuesday at the age of 56, his family announced.

The cause of death is still unclear, but the gossip website TMZ quoted sources from Henke’s family as saying that he apparently died in his sleep.

Henke participated in dozens of different productions, series, TV shows and more. Among them are ‘Lost’ and ‘Dexter’ – however, in recent years he is known mainly for his role in the American Netflix drama series “Orange is the New Black”, which takes place at Litchfield Federal Prison.

Henke played the character of the gay warden Desi Paskatola and appeared in dozens of episodes between 2013-2019. Hanke also starred in one of the most significant scenes in the series – in which the prisoner Posy Washington, played by the actress Samira Wiley, Killed by a warden after a riot in the prison dining room.

Henke’s manager said that he was “an incredibly kind man with happy energy, a talented actor who loved being part of the community – and we loved him back.”
