The Permanent Multisectoral Commission for the Implementation, Follow-up and Monitoring of the Safe Neighborhood Multisectoral Strategy agreed to hold face-to-face meetings and work groups to optimize joint efforts focused on strengthening crime prevention and peaceful coexistence, reported the Ministry of the Interior ( Mininter).

The activities will allow more and more sectors to participate in the initiatives and actions that this multisectoral strategy promoted by the Ministry has been promoting, through the 107 safe neighborhoods in the country.

They will also guarantee better follow-up and monitoring of the progress of the work plan scheduled for this year.

This agreement was reached by the representatives of the 11 public entities that make up the aforementioned multisectoral commission, in its second ordinary session, chaired by the General Director of Democratic Security of the Ministry, Aissa Tejada Fernández.

During that meeting, the Interior sector official urged the organizations that are part of said working group to strengthen the collaboration and cooperation of representatives of civil society in the design of actions that reinforce the commitment of those who are part of safe neighborhoods. .

He highlighted the importance of coordinated work for the implementation of policies, programs and services related to crime prevention.

Main advances

The Safe Neighborhood Multisectoral Strategy team, from the General Directorate of Citizen Security of the Mininter, presented on the situational status of the Plan to Strengthen the Police Axis, within the framework of the first agreement of the regular session of the National Council for Citizen Security.

The representatives of the different entities involved gave an account of the talks they gave to the articulators and territorial supervisors of Barrio Seguro about the service they carry out to reinforce citizen security.

During the second ordinary session, officials from the different sectors also reported on their progress in the implementation of the work plan of the aforementioned multisectoral commission, during the first quarter of the year.

Representatives of the ministries of Health, Development and Social Inclusion, Women and Vulnerable Populations, Labor and Employment Promotion, Education, Transportation and Telecommunications, Culture, and Housing, Construction and Sanitation participated in this meeting.

Authorities from the National Commission for Development and Life Without Drugs (Devida) and the Peruvian National Police (PNP) were also present.
