As reported by the Government Sub-delegation in a statement, Rivas thanked Taheo Lee, from South Korea, for their work; Michelle Serpilli, from Italy; Juliao Gomes, from Portugal; and Enzo Bort, from France.

This program allows agents of other nationalities to temporarily exchange destinations to facilitate better quality communication and police attention to foreign pilgrims who are on the Camino de Santiago.

The plan has had agents from Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Brazil and, for the first time, South Korea.

Joint patrols with Spanish agents

The police patrol a part of the so-called French Way of the Camino de Santiago together with two other Spanish agents to provide assistance to foreign pilgrims, help them with translation tasks or request any type of help.

Rivas recalled that the Ministry of the Interior has a free mobile application, Alertcorps, which facilitates geolocation for security forces and bodies in case of emergency and enables the issuance of alerts and complaints.

The ‘Non camiñas soa’ campaign is also active, to prevent gender violence among female pilgrims.
