The launch of this stage was supervised by the race director, Gilles Gaubert, who designed the orienteering race that the participants will brave in pairs.
Over a distance of approximately 26 km, the raiders began their race on mountain bikes among the sand dunes of Dakhla, where they embarked on a suspenseful orienteering race in order to find numbered landmarks along the racetrack. Once found, the pair completes the challenge of the first stage.
The second phase of this first step consists of going through a bootcamp or a running race. It’s about trekking up and down trails back to the starting point, punctuating an adventure in a splendid location in the desert sands, thanks to the team spirit that helps overcome any difficult circumstances.
This sporting and feminine challenge is, above all, an exceptional opportunity for exploration, sharing and human values.
Over four days, participants will take part in various sporting activities (boating, canoeing, running and cycling, track, orienteering, mountain biking).
The 10th edition of the Sahraouiya Solidarity Raid, organized under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, kicked off on Sunday in Dakhla, for an unprecedented female adventure which continues until February 10.
This exclusively female sporting event takes place in pairs, from start to finish, for an experience of sharing and cooperation between the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the golden sand dunes.
